I was reading more of “Hands In Clay,” and came across something said about Tony Hepburn. Apparently, Tony made drawings to explore his work after it was completed. This made me want to try sculpting before drawing. With previous pieces, I drew first. I still haven’t made a page for this sculpture.
I can see the value in starting the page first now. I feel more able to go back-and-forth between the sculpture and page. Now, I have a piece drying and won’t be able to alter it in response to drawing as a continuous dialog.
