I was able to get some of my work fired at school (thank you, Tom!). The pieces are so different, well they are the same too. It’s so interesting how the clay changes to a breakable glass-like form. I was so surprized at the feel. The rough pieces have edges that are so sharp that I cut my finger picking one up. This form brings a whole new feel and meaning to the work. I am also not sure how to finish the work, but I am looking forward to playing around.
I am planning to sculpt today and I am beginning to think about the clay in a different way because of the firing. I am not sure what will happen.
Oh, and I am looking at getting a small kiln of my own tomorrow. It will take me some time to figure out how to use it, but I am excited.
